Support of the West Cecil Health Center

Mr. Rajkowski:

I fully support the West Cecil Health Center receiving a federal grant for the opening of a federally qualified health center in Conowingo.

With the federal government approval for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to designate Conowingo as a “medically underserved area”, the residents of Conowingo may finally receive access to adequate health facilities. The nearest health center being thirty miles away only further solidifies the need for a health center in this area.

With funds from the federal grant, the health center will be able to offer a comprehensive array of primary care, diagnostic and preventive services, dental and mental hygiene directly or by referral, specialty care referral, outreach, transportation and education services. The center will provide services regardless of a client’s ability to pay.

After the initial assistance from the federal government, the facility will become self-sufficient. The small investment by the federal government through the grant will improve the quality of life for individuals in the area for decades to come.
