Toll Increase Update
Today, the MDTA Acting Executive
Secretary recommended a revised
tolling plan to the MDTA Board.
Among other changes, some of the
recommended adjustments based on
public feedback include:
- Adjusting cash tolls for the
Bay and Nice bridges: instead of
$5 this fall and $8 in July 2013
as proposed, the recommendation
is $4 this fall and $6 in 2013.
- Adjusting tolls for
three-axle and four-axle
vehicles to reduce impact on
vehicles with light trailers and
recreational trailers and
smaller freight vehicles.
- Transitioning Hatem Bridge
AVI Decal users to E-ZPass at
the same $10 cost, with a
transition period over the next
year rather than this fall.
- Waiving the $1.50 monthly E-ZPass
fee for account holders making
three or more trips during the
previous month at Maryland toll
facilities.
The MDTA Board is expected to vote
on this revised tolling plan at the
Board's monthly meeting on Thursday,
Sept. 22, 2011. The meeting will be
held at 2310 Broening Highway in
Baltimore beginning at 9 a.m. The
effective dates and specific
features of the final plan will be
posted to this website following
approval by the Board. Public
testimony will not be accepted at
this meeting, as the public-comment
period for the tolling proposal
closed on Aug. 1, 2011.
